Remember to renew your membership!
In addition to the yearly summer rituals of barbecues, camping and beach trips, another annual summer event is the renewal of your ASCLS membership. All ASCLS memberships expire on July 31 and must be renewed on a yearly basis. Some of you renew by mail, and you should be on the look out for your renewal forms. Some of you like to save paper and renew online at the ASCLS website. (www.ascls.org/members) Type in your user name and password, and you will be taken to a page that will allow you to renew your membership. If you have automatic renewal via a credit card, it is important to check the expiration date on your card, to make sure it doesn’t expire and interfere with your renewal. Some of our longtime members have ended up on the lapsed member list for this reason.
Whether you renew by mail or online, you also need to check your member profile and make any needed changes, especially in your email address. ASCLS uses members’ email addresses to keep them up to date on continuing education opportunities, and legislative issues affecting the practice of clinical laboratory science and clinical laboratory education. ASCLS can use member emails to help members keep abreast of developments and respond with letters of support when needed. Your email is a powerful tool that can be used to let people know about the value of the clinical laboratory and clinical laboratory education.
